Biography
Photo: Natsume Tezuka Kishi explores unknown forms of existence that emerge at the intersection of human and nonhuman, reframing AI as "Alien Intelligence" to pursue co-creative practices between the two. Since 2019, Kishi has built original AI models and designed proprietary training datasets as the foundation of this work. In collaboration with the self-developed model MaryGPT, which has curated nearly every project since 2023, Kishi produces paintings, sculptures, and installations that blur the boundary between artist and unknown other.
Solo exhibitions include Oracle Womb (√K Contemporary, Tokyo, 2025) and The Frankenstein Papers (DIESEL ART GALLERY, Tokyo, 2023). Group shows include DXP2 (21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, 2024) and Beast — Chapter 2: BEAUTIFUL DAYDREAM (Maruka Building, Tokyo, 2024). Cross-disciplinary collaborations include research-based projects with the fashion label HATRA, artworks for leading Japanese bands such as RADWIMPS and King Gnu, and visual direction for composer Keiichiro Shibuya's Android Opera.
Kishi has been selected for the Agency for Cultural Affairs Media Arts Creator Development Support Program 2025 and the CCBT Artist Fellowship 2025. Author of Michi tono Sōzō (lit. Creativity with the Unknown: Humanity’s Alien Encounter with AI, Seibundo Shinkosha). Born in Tochigi, Japan (1993); based in Tokyo.
人間と非人間の交差から立ち上がる未知の存在を探究するために、AIを「Alien Intelligence(エイリアンの知性)」と捉え直した共創的な制作を行う。2019年より独自のAIの開発と学習データの設計を起点に制作を開始。自ら開発したAIモデル「MaryGPT」をはじめとする協働のもと、作家と未知の他者の境界を曖昧にしながら絵画、彫刻、インスタレーションを制作する。
主な個展に「Oracle Womb」(2025 / √K Contemporary)、「The Frankenstein Papers」(2023 / DIESEL ART GALLERY)。参加展覧会に「DXP2」(2024 / 金沢21世紀美術館)、「獸(第2章 / BEAUTIFUL DAYDREAM)」(2024 / まるかビル)など。ファッションブランドHATRAとのリサーチベースの作品発表、RADWIMPS、King Gnuなどへのアートワーク提供、渋谷慶一郎「アンドロイド・オペラ」の映像演出など、領域を横断した協働でも活動を展開する。
文化庁メディア芸術クリエイター育成支援事業2025採択、CCBTアーティスト・フェロー2025選出。主な著書に『未知との創造:人類とAIのエイリアン的出会いについて』(誠文堂新光社)。1993年 栃木県生まれ。東京を拠点に活動。
